The Dance of Moon and Sun: A Poetic Reflection

A glowing moon reflecting on a calm water surface at night, surrounded by darkness.
A luminous full moon casting a soft glow over a tranquil river at night.

Yesterday, as I gazed upon the not-yet-night sky, barely lit with stars, my eyes fell upon La Luna, glowing majestically amidst the darkness.

The moon hung there like a brilliant lantern, illuminating the world below with a delicate silver sheen that danced across my face—and the unsuspecting civilians walking on campus.

Then, I turned westward and saw a yawning sun, painted in blues and pinks, its golden rays stretching lazily across the horizon, brushing the moving clouds with soft strokes of light.

As I stood there, captivated by the push and pull dance above, the celestial bodies seemed to waltz, each playing their part in a timeless orchestration. The world seemed to hold its breath, caught in the fragile balance of day and night.

And then, a thought struck me.

What if what I was seeing was the moon shining so brightly because she gets just one glimpse of the sun?

And what if the sun was so full of color because of the blushing of her cheeks, having caught the moon looking?

This moment, this dance, this thought… spurred me to write the poem that follows.

Enjoy.

Come Back to Me, My Dear Sun

Come back to me, My Dear Sun.

Let me kiss your speckled brow and feel your luscious rays.
Only once a lifetime will we meet—paths crossed, bathed in black.

I need it to be today.

So quickly you disappear, hidden beneath the waves,
Yet somehow, your warmth always reflects upon my face,
Lighting my way through shadows and murky corners of despair.

In your gentle embrace, I forget the weight of the world,
And the burdens that tether me to the ground become light as feathers,
Carried away by the whispers of a breeze that echoes your name.

This delicate dance amongst the stars keeps me cold within my solitude.
I long for the day we meet again,
When the heavens align, and the sky spills forth your shimmering light,
Illuminating the paths that lay ahead and guiding my weary heart home.

For with you, time stands still, and every moment is laced with magic,
Transforming the mundanity of life into a canvas splashed with vibrant hues.

Come back to me, My Dear Sun,

And let us bask once more in the brilliance of our union,
Where the daydreams linger and the night holds no fear,
A sanctuary of light where love transcends the fleeting shadows,
And we become the universe itself, radiant and endless.

Come back to me, My Dear Sun.
